Committees and Activities
Medical Professionalism
Goals:
1. Collaborate with other Pre-Health organizations and the Office of Health Professions Advising.
2. Promote professionalism among AMSA members.
3. Contact professors, researchers, medical professionals, and institutions to arrange guest speakers for general body meetings.

Activities:
1. Open Houses: Coordinating visits to medical schools to encourage members to learn about different programs.
2. Boot Camps: Familiarizing students with the application process: personal statements, application cycle timelines.
3. Workshops: Mock interviews and arranging attendance to dining etiquette dinners.
4. Information Meetings: Present undergraduate research oppurtunities to members.

Volunteer
Goals:
1. Arange activities that improve public health and quality of life in the immediate Blacksburg Community and beyond.
2. Promote ways to enhance public health or science education by arranging related volunteer activities.

Activities:
1. Hokie Health Club: Promote healthy eating and exercise habits to elementary level children.
2. Relay for Life: AMSA has already formed a group for Relay for Life 2014; VT AMSA. Members of AMSA celebrate the victories of cancer survivors, remember those who lost their lives, and support those undergoing cancer treatment.
3. Big Event: This is Virginia Tech's day of service. Virginia Tech students help the community by volunteering to do projects with citizens of Blacksburg and the surrounding area. AMSA will have a group to participate in the Big Event.
4. Micah's Backpack: Help prepare bagged meals for children in low-income families in the Blacksburg area. These children receive free meal assistance both during the academic year as well as the summer.

Community
Goals:
1. Promote unity within the Virginia Tech chapter of AMSA with social events.
2. Increase awareness about the Virginia Tech chapter of AMSA in the campus community.
Activities:
1. Design AMSA T-Shirts and other promotional items.
2. Design advertisements that promote AMSA (for example at Virginia Tech's Gobblerfest).
3. Organize group hikes, dinners, and other social events.
